WEB PCN practices are engaged with the Pharmacy First service and are able to make patient referrals to community pharmacies for minor illnesses. The service aims to reduce the pressure on general practices and A&E departments whilst offering increased convenience and choice for patients.
Pharmacists have extensive knowledge on health conditions and medicines and are able to provide appropriate advice on a range of health topics.
Most community pharmacies can help you with the seven common conditions below without needing a GP appointment. If you have any of the following conditions please consider speaking to your community pharmacy first.
Sinusitis (adults and children aged 12 years and over)
Sore throat (adults and children aged 5 years and over)
Earache (children and young adults aged 1 year to 17 years)
Infected insect bite (adults and children aged 1 year and over)
Impetigo (adults and children aged 1 year and over)
Shingles (adults aged 18 years and over)
Urinary tract infection (women, aged 16 to 64 years)
Patients can be referred back to their GP if needed.
